Excerpt
The children first ask each other what their worlds are like.
There are smoke and mirrors,
And fabrications of shadow there
In a mad house unfound
Oh darkness, cursed be
Covering me
Hush and be free
Whisper
Forgot
I feel the cold numb my bones
My skin breaks
Look! All that is there has been blackened
We are lost are we not?
A monolith rends us
Strewn about with cracks and facets
Not but this to break our silence
That I would see you
Can you imagine a forest bathed in night?
No, for I have ever seen the sun.
A meadow splayed in silver reflections?
No, for I only see fire and the green burning amber.
