Angels
Angels are the strange alien creatures that crawled out of the Rift and devastated the world. They are humanoid, though they can sometimes posses differences such as pointed ears, wings, tails, glowing eyes, oddly colored skin, etc. They have incredible powers, the limit to the number of their powers varying, though the highest any have ever attained -that was recorded- was five. The knowledge of Angels is limited.
History
For more on their history, go to History of the Angels.
The Angels were first sighted in 1456 when they came out of the Rift in Maeter Purge. Their odd appearances and incredible powers first caused humans to believe they were benevolent beings, and humans called them Angels.
The Angels learned to speak human language and studied much of the world before making their intentions known. They were not benevolent, rather malevolent, and soon began to slaughter much of mankind.
Because of the humans attributing them as divine beings, mankind feared the Angels and would not fight them, believing it to be impossible. However, a brave soul (needs name) went out to meet an Angel in battle and successfully defeated him. This defeat turned the tides, and the slaughter transformed into war.

Biology
Angels are completely humanoid in appearance save for some variations. These variations include different colored skin, eyes, and hair, glowing eyes, tails, wings, fangs, pointed ears, and other variations.
Genetics
No two Angels are really alike in appearance and it is very rare that offspring will resemble their parents. Because of the wide variety of possible physical features, there are no true ethnic groups or discernible races, and family is only known by name. Incest, however, is strictly prohibited as there is biological feature within an Angel that will automatically kill any child conceived through incest, which can be deadly to the mother as well.
Life Cycle
Sexual intercourse works the same as in humans, as well as pregnancy. From here on, there are two things that can happen: the mother carries the child to term or can choose to lay eggs.
If a mother carries the child to term, her body will biologically deter the cells from dividing and creating more children within her, although twins, triplets, and even quadruplets are possible, but no more than quadruplets. Pregnancy lasts about a year, but labor lasts about an hour at the most. The body requires a resting period afterwards, in which case, reproductive functions shut down for a total of five months wherein she can become pregnant again.
If a mother decides to lay them as eggs (usually the option chosen by females in military), then the body will not prohibit a large quantity of children to be created. Angels can lay up to twenty eggs per pregnancy. The body's resting period lasts about three months.
Eggs are 9 inches in circumference (the size of baseballs) to begin with, but grow in size to be about 30 inches in circumference (size of a basketball) when the child is ready to hatch. Most eggs are colored and have interesting features such as ridges, indentations, glowing speckles, and other abnormalities. Eggs are usually as bizarre and un-identical as the actual children born. It takes about ten months for the eggs to grow and a month after that for them to hatch.
Babies grow relatively fast, gaining complete control of motor functions in less than a year, and are fully rational and aware of themselves and daily life by the time they reach five. They can fend completely for themselves by age 7 and are considered adults when they reach age 10. During these ten years, they suffer intense growth pains as their bodies develop rapidly, about three to four times as fast as a human. When they reach fifteen, they are the full size of an adult human. Male Angels reach sexual maturity at 16 and female Angels reach sexual maturity at age 15, and from there they can breed.
After fifteen years of age has been reached, the aging process slows to the dullest of crawls. There is no true comparison between Angel ages and Human ages. Some Angels have lived for thousands of years.
Angels do not age physically as humans do. They go throughout life full of vigor and strength, never wrinkling, hunching, or deteriorating. Once they have reached a certain point in their life, they will experience lack of energy, sleepiness, and will eventually lie down and die, without any real physical signs showing that they have reached their age limit.
Diet
An Angel can eat anything a human eats, though they have trouble digesting processed foods. They are predominantly carnivores, favoring meat over vegetables. They also show signs of cannibalism, and in mentally demented species, self-cannibalism is also present.
Drastic diet changes can also vary in certain individuals, though such occurrences are rare. A few Angels have been known to literally feed off of emotions. Some can only gain nutrition from consuming rocks. These Angels have been noted to possess incredible abilities more impressive than their other fellow Angels, but there is no scientific correlation between a specific 'odd' diet and these abilities.
Biological Variations
The Angel species is a varied one. Due to the incredible differences between Angel species, there is a lack of segregation and ethnic groups. For a time, there was a segregation between winged Angels and non-winged Angels, but that soon ended when the entire populace of winged Angels died off and disappeared for several centuries. When they returned, it had been too long and the segregations and its reasons were forgotten.
Variations are categorized by the physical attributes of Angels that are visible. They are usually discerned by horns, wings, and tails as the three main groups of variations with a large category of mix and match in between.

Psychology
An Angel's psychology, unlike a human's, does not stem solely from the brain. Although the brain is still the central nervous system and the foundation for their thoughts and emotions, the rest of the organs in an Angel's body also contain special nodules that store 'memories'. When an emotion or other feeling is triggered, these nodules will send special signals to their brains and bodies that will cause them to be affected.
It is also known that the eyes are actually the base nodules for the emotions of love and hate instead of the heart as would be commonly deduced. A common punishment in Angel society is to cut out the eyes of their enemies which will enable the Angel to turn their enemy into a pretty heartless puppet without any real emotion to react to since Angels are primarily driven by hate.
Reason and Instinct
Consciousness and Thought
Sleeping and Dreaming
Motivation and Emotion
Sexuality and Love
Sexuality is only a means to an end: reproduction. Some Angels do love each other, but rarely will they act upon such love as it is a rare thing and not something that is encouraged. Sexuality is never a bonding practice and is neither encouraged nor discouraged, though if the population is suffering such as in war times, then sexual intercourse becomes an increasing event.

Culture
Angels are surprisingly advanced in technology, warfare, and ability, yet lack the basics of ordinary human cultures. General information on the nature of Angel's culture has been gathered and transposed here.
Language
Angels tend not to communicate with one another as a rule, but even so, they have a very extensive language with a large database of words. It is distinguished by the extensive use of the letter s, an odd melodic pattern to it, and the skipping over of certain letters.
(because I do not have the time to write out an entire language right now, you can use this generator to type in their language. Select the Standard 2 option, type what you want to say in English, then hit Translate.)
Gender Roles
There is no distinguishing between gender roles. Females and males are equal on all grounds. Either one can be dominant or subservient based solely on personality and disposition. The only trait that sets them apart is that females reproduce and males do not, but still, neither is seen as weaker, subservient, dominant, etc. for it.
Family
There is no true concept of family for Angels. There are no marriages and the father is seldom seen with the mother. Adulthood is reached at age ten, and children are able to fend for themselves at age seven. Depending on how well the parent and child get along will determine how early the child is kicked out. They are definitely kicked out of the family at age ten since they are adults and do not need their parents. The concept of family to them usually infers there is a mother taking care of children until adulthood is reached. Bonds, ties, and a normal family structure are not present in Angel families.
Society, Government, and Politics
The majority of Angels are unified in all things. If one chooses to destroy a city, the rest will do so as well. There are a few who are self-segregated from the main populations, and they are usually the most untrusted due to their unpredictability and lack of a superior keeping them under control. There are no political parties, no real forms of government. Sometimes they will hold debates and councils. Sometimes they will follow each other like lemmings. It all depends merely on circumstance.
Trade and Economics
Angels have no real countries and borders or designated civilizations of any sort. Since most civilizations fall apart soon after they are built, any form of currency is worthless. Trade is usually done through bartering, though is mostly seen in currently existing civilizations. Most fend for themselves, sometimes supporting their companions. Supplies and other items are looted from the dead or self-created from raw materials.
War
Angels live and breathe war. Before they found the human's world, they were constantly at odds with each other. The earliest recordings they have documented mention or picture an aspect of fighting, violence, and battle tactics that evolved throughout their history. War times are the only major aspect of their life when Angels will team up as one entire unit working towards a common goal.
Angels do not hold the common military standards. Loyalty, courage, honor, and duty are not high held standards. Angels will not flee the battle only because they want to kill. A soldier that fights on side A for the first battle can switch to side B in the next battle without anyone batting an eye.
The Angels do not believe in rules of war except the war is won when all enemies are vanquished. On rare occasions, it has been documented that the wars ended when only the opposing leader was killed. Looting, raping, and burning only occurs after all enemy forces have been wiped out, which contains much of the well known chaos of early human warfare.
Angels are very adaptive in their strategies and they do not use any recognizable or repeated methods of attack. Styles of weapons and the use of soldiers always varies. Many tactics are invented on the spot of battles, and some are never used or seen again.
Angels are very persistent in their warfare. They do not give up easily and will never surrender. Some call this fearlessness, some deem it stupidity. Whichever the case, it is agreed that they will fight till they win or kill themselves trying. Literally. Angels have been known to suicide in a mad attempt to take out the entire enemy with them.
Technology
Angels have extensively developed their technologies due to the demand for machines of war. Because of this, the majority of Angels are taught math and sciences in their children years in order to adapt to their electronically growing world as it develops. They were the original creators of mecha and weapons such as guns, lasers, machines, transports, and other such devices. Their technology was eventually recreated by Humans for their own purposes.
Art, Music, and Literature
Angels do not indulge in artistic abilities. They have no true pieces of art except varied monuments of stone or other natural substances, and occasionally, results of their powers. Such as, an Angel striking sand with a lightning blast will no doubt leave behind an abstract, glass sculpture.
Musical instruments were never developed, but the Angels' singing is unlike any other. Musical compositions are always acapella pieces. Their singing is usually of choir sound or opera. There have been a few cases where banging of stones to create a drum-effect were sometimes incorporated not music, though this is not popular. Angels' voices can also imitate natural sounds, such as bird calls, running water, wind, rustling leaves, and other natural sounds, usually practiced by listening to the nature around them.
Literature is limited to historical accounts and texts for science and math. The only nonfiction books are those that record popular songs and verses. There are no known fiction novels, plays, or other such things. Only poetry stands as their entertainment.
Literary figures are all real Angels that once lived and performed great feats, allowing researchers to learn of the Angel's history based off their extensive ballads. The only downside is that the ballads only mention titles and monickers of the literary figures and do not give their actual names. This makes the literary figure hard to place or describe, and hinders any biographical research from being attained.
